Shopify funnel types
for paid traffic

A funnel is the page, or short run of pages, a visitor sees between clicking your ad and reaching Shopify checkout. The right kind depends on how much the visitor already knows and what the ad promised.

Five common types are covered here. Each guide explains what the page is, when to use it, what goes on it, and how to build it in Funneled.

Which funnel type fits your traffic?

Start from the visitor. Someone who has never heard of the product needs a reason to care before they see a price. Someone who already wants it needs the offer and a short path to checkout.

Cold traffic that doesn’t know the product yet
Your ad sells a problem or an idea, and the click arrives curious, not ready to buy.
Cold or warm traffic that skims
The product has several distinct benefits and no single one carries the sale.
Shoppers who don’t know which product fits them
You sell a range, and the right product depends on the customer: skin type, size, taste, use, or budget.
Shoppers ready to buy, where a bigger order makes sense
Customers often buy several items from the same range: flavours, shades, sizes, or refills.
Cold traffic going to a product page you want to keep
Your product page works for people who know the brand but not for cold ad traffic.

The types combine. A listicle can be the pre-sell page for a product. A quiz can end in a bundle. If two types both look right for a campaign, build both and run them as an A/B test on the same ad traffic.

Real funnels, by type

Pages Shopify stores have published with Funneled. Each one is shown under the type it is.

Advertorial example

Salt Lab

Problem-first advertorial for a magnesium oil

The page opens on the reader’s problem, not the product: a headline about the nervous system, a list of symptoms, then an explanation of what stress does to magnesium levels. The product is introduced after that, as a starter bundle the reader can buy on the page.

Ozzi Gear

Five-question listicle for an outdoor chair

Written for one audience: older buyers. The page lists the five questions they ask before buying a camp chair, then answers each in its own numbered section with a video and a call to action.

Quiz funnel example

It’s Olio

Christmas gift finder quiz

A three-question quiz (who the gift is for, what they cook, what you want to spend) that picks a gift set from the range. Shoppers who would rather browse can skip it and add a set to cart from the grid underneath.

One builder for every type

In Funneled, all five types are made from the same blocks in the same editor. Product blocks read products, variants and prices from your Shopify store, visitors add to cart on the page, and checkout happens on Shopify.

Read how the editor, the Shopify connection, A/B testing and analytics fit together on the Shopify landing page builder page, or go straight to the landing page and funnel builder, reusable landing page sections and funnel analytics.
